V28-91 : LOCAL TAXATION - WRITE OFFS AND HARDSHIP RELIEF

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control identified a number of accounts which had been identified as irrecoverable, and authority was given to write off Non- Domestic Rates of £24,322.49 and Council Tax of £2,139.07, in accordance with Financial Regulation 3.8. It was further resolved that £10,070.21 owed by a particular business be written off.

The report also considered applications for Hardship Relief, and it was resolved that Non- Domestic rates of £461.01 and £1430.25 owed by two parties be remitted under Section 49 of the Local Government Finance Act 1998. It was further resolved that a Club be granted 75% Discretionary Rate Relief for the period from 1 April 1998 to 31 March 2001, and that no relief be granted to a company as it was not in the interest of the Council Tax Payers.
