V28-81 : HEALTHY LIVING CENTRE

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services gave an update on the Stage 1 application for five year funding for a Healthy Living Centre, which was submitted to the New Opportunities Fund in August 1999.

The Council had been invited to develop the Stage 1 application to the final Stage 2 by September 2000. Suffolk Health Authority had been approached with a view to funding the work, and were prepared to fund the necessary resource to a maximum of £5k, provided the Council would match fund.

Members were minded to defer consideration of this matter in light of discussions on the Kirkley Community Resource Centre and to make this part of that discussion. There was also some concern in relation to the future funding commitment of the scheme, as it was not possible to eliminate the Council from a potential commitment after the Grant period.

RESOLVED

That consideration of the report on the Healthy Living Centre be deferred for further discussions in relation to the Kirkley Community Resource Centre and further information on potential future funding commitment.
