V28-71 : DISCUSSION PAPER - INTERNAL RESTRUCTURE

The report of the Chief Executive provided the Discussion Paper on the Internal Restructure which had been sent to all members and staff for consideration and comments.

The Chief Executive had been extremely pleased with the excellent response to the exercise, and there had been an overwhelming view that the consultation period should be extended to allow staff more time. The Chief Executive had agreed to extended the consultation period until 26 June 2000, and in light of this, consideration of this Paper would be deferred until the meeting of The Executive on 6 July 2000. A further report would be submitted which considered the results of the consultation exercise and members would receive copies of all responses.

A full discussion about the strategic direction and core function of the Council would be held at The Executive Away Day on 5 July 2000. This would be set in the context of the budgetary position and the government's requirements on Best Value, Audit, Performance Management and Modernising. Following these deliberations, further consideration of the restructure would take place. (Para. 1)
