V28-635 : ESTATE OFFICES

The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) concerned a proposal by the Waveney Tenant Panel to make available an estate office in each association's area, to be used by the Association as well as Housing Officers and the Police. Currently an estates office was available on the Gunton Estate and the Whitton Estate, and St. Peters Court had a communal room. The most noticeable exceptions were the Roman Hill Estate and Beccles and it was suggested that a suitable one or two bedroom flat be used at no cost to the Associations.

Some members were concerned at lettable properties being used for administration purposes, although others pointed out that difficult to let properties would be used which might otherwise be standing vacant. As it was apparent the matter required a full discussion, it was proposed that it be referred to the Community Services Policy Panel.

RESOLVED

That consideration of the possible provision of estate officers for the Roman Hill and Beccles Tenants and Residents Associations be referred to the Community Services Policy Panel.
