V28-634 : HOUSING GAS CONTRACTS - PARTNERSHIP WORKING

The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) advised that the Council had contractually employed T. Dukes Ltd over a period of ten years to undertake the gas servicing and installation work to Council properties, and over that time a close working relationship had developed.

The current contracts had expired and it was proposed that a partnership agreement be entered into with T. Dukes Ltd for two years to continue with the present arrangements and to develop best value initiatives outside the normal contract framework.

Either party would be able to terminate the agreement giving three months' written notice, and consequently the Council would not necessarily be tied into the partnership if it did not meet requirements.

RESOLVED

That Standing Orders be suspended to allow a partnership agreement between the Council and T. Dukes Ltd for a period of two years to expire in December 2002.
