V28-633 : MANAGEMENT OF COAST PROTECTION STRUCTURES AT CORTON

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) considered options for management of coastal protection at Corton following recent failures of sea wall defences.

There were insufficient remaining funds within the 2000/01 coastal management budget to undertake either holding repairs, estimated at £70,000, or to prevent further deterioration of the failed part or preventive actions to avoid damage to presently intact but at-risk parts, and members were asked for input on management of this issue.

As this was a major issue, which members wished to have the opportunity to discuss in depth, it was proposed that consideration of the matter be deferred for receipt of all available information.

RESOLVED

That consideration of the report on the Management of Coast Protection Structures at Corton be deferred to the next meeting of The Executive.
