V28-618 : HIGHWAY WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS - OULTON, LOWESTOFT
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) considered the implementation of highway weight restrictions in Oulton Street and Bentley Drive, Lowestoft. The Planning and Transportation Committee at its meeting on 20 April 2000 resolved that a Traffic Regulation Order be drafted effecting a one-way 7.5 tonne vehicle weight restriction in Oulton Street, north to south and in Bentley Drive, south to north. However, in light of further consultations with the County Council and the Police, it was now suggested that there be a a staged approach to the implementation of these restrictions. RESOLVED
1. That a 12 month Experimental Traffic Regulation Order effecting a southbound ban of heavy goods vehicles (over 7.5 tonnes GVW) in Oulton Street, Lowestoft, except for exempt vehicles, be advertised.
2. That further consultation be undertaken with residents of Bentley Drive, Lowestoft, to consider appropriate traffic calming measures.
