V28-601 : MARKETING OF WAVENEY SPORTS AND LEISURE CENTRE

The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) assessed the outcome of the marketing campaign undertaken by Marketing For Clubs Ltd to sell memberships to Winners Fitness Suite at Waveney Sports and Leisure Centre.

In view of the success of the initial campaign it was proposed to continue the marketing programme for a further two years, subject to satisfactory performance. The extended campaign would look to attract no more than 30 new members per month. The original agreement split the profit on a 60/40 basis in favour of the Council, and negotiations had improved this to 70/30.

Members had some reservations with the proposed extension due to a number of complaints of repeated calling, but it was considered acceptable if an appropriate form of monitoring was implemented.

RESOLVED

That the marketing of the Winners Fitness Suite involving Marketing For Clubs Ltd be continued for a further two years, subject to satisfactory performance and further monitoring being built into the contract, at the renegotiated profit share.
