V28-594 : PLANNING APPLICATION REFERRED FOR DECISION

W11938/2 - REPLACEMENT UPVC WINDOWS
FLAT 7, KIRKLEY HOUSE, KIRKLEY CLIFF ROAD, LOWESTOFT

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) considered a current planning application at Kirkley House, Kirkley Cliff Road, Lowestoft for the installation of replacement uPVC windows.

The application was considered by the Development Control Panel on 20 September 2000 where it was felt that as the majority of windows within Kirkley House were already replaced with uPVC this application should be treated as an exception to policy and referred to The Executive. The Director's opinion remained that, set against the current policy, the proposed replacement windows were unsuitable and the application should be refused.

The Executive, whilst supporting the need for a Council policy relating to replacement windows in Conservation Areas, agreed with the deliberations of the Development Control Panel. It was also considered that the policy should be reviewed, now that it had been in place for a reasonable time.

RESOLVED

That application W11938/2 for the replacement of timber sash windows with uPVC at Flat 7, Kirkley House, Kirkley Cliff Road, Lowestoft, be approved.
