V28-563 : NATIONAL LAND AND PROPERTY GAZETTEER AND

NATIONAL LAND INFORMATION SERVICE

The report of the Corporate Director (Corporate Resources and Policy) outlined the Local Authorities Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) and HM Land Registry's scheme to work towards a National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) in partnership with Councils. An adjunct to this was the National Land Information Service, which would initially move towards the electronic processing of local land charges via a "national hub".

Both schemes were embryonic and would probably take years to complete, but it was recommended that the Council start now to enable it to develop by relatively modest steps rather than having to make a major effort to catch up at a later date.

RESOLVED

That as a matter of policy the Council participates in the National Land and Property Gazetteer and the National Land Information Service, as outlined in the report of the Corporate Director (Corporate Resources and Policy).
