V28-562 : ASSET MANAGEMENT PLANS
The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) advised that a direction received from the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) relating to measuring performance in the management of local authority property had indicated that all authorities would be expected to provide a "dry run" Asset Management Plan to them by November 2000, and that the Plan should be in place from 2001 onwards. The report set out Waveney's response, and made recommendation on suitable ways forward. Members were pleased that the Plan would aim to make more effective use of the Council's buildings and the way this fitted in with Best Value. Having the Plan in place would also aid the Council's case as future allocations of Government funding would be based in part on assessment of authorities' performance in managing their assets.
RESOLVED
1. That the Asset Management Plan appended to the report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) be formally adopted and sent to the Government Office as this Council's response to the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR).
2. That further progress reports be brought to the appropriate Panel, as well as details of the response from the DETR.
3. That the Property Services Manager be confirmed as the authority's Corporate Property Officer (CPO).
