V28-555 : RECENT OUTBREAK OF SWINE FEVER

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) sought confirmation of the Director's action, in consultation with the Chairman, in replying to a letter from the East of England Regional Assembly.

The reply stated that the Council was in favour of the proposal to adopt a position which supported this important sector of the regional economy, and that the British Government should pay compensation to the affected farmers at a level comparable to that which is payable elsewhere in the EU.

RESOLVED

That the action of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment), in consultation with the Chairman, in replying to the East of England Regional Assembly with a message of support of farmers affected by Swine Fever, be confirmed. The meeting was concluded at 8.35pm.
