V28-552 : MOVING FORWARD - A STRATEGY FOR THE EAST OF ENGLAND - EEDA

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) was prepared in response to a letter received by the Council from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) requesting input into their Economic Development Strategy review. EEDA were investing quite heavily in Waveney, and the report suggested items that should be included as part of the review.

Members added that Lowestoft's important role in the offshore sector should be emphasised, along with its boat building capability and the presence of a fishing industry.

RESOLVED

That feedback be provided to EEDA as set out in the report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) and suggested by members, by the end of December 2000, with particular regard to fostering a high level of enterprise in Waveney.
