V28-549 : NEIGHBOURHOOD RENEWAL FUND

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) set out the Council's response to the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions' consultation on the new Neighbourhood Renewal fund. Responses were required by 14 November 2000, and Waveney's response was made jointly with the Isle of Wight Council.

81 authorities, not including Waveney, had been selected to receive the fund, and an exercise to establish Waveney's position in the rankings gave a position of 82. Members agreed that it was important to develop a local neighbourhood renewal strategy, and were particularly pleased that the MP would be involved.

RESOLVED

1. That the action of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment), in consultation with the Chairman, in responding to the Government's Consultation Document on the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, be confirmed.

2. That the need to develop strategies and Local Strategic Partnerships in line with Government recommendations be acknowledged.
