V28-540 : WAVENEY LOCAL PLAN REVIEW - ENVIRONMENT TOPIC PAPER
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) presented the Waveney Local Plan's Environment Topic Paper for discussion. Feedback from members would identify key issues to be carried forward to the Issues Report for public consultation. Members requested that several matters be given consideration when formulating these policies, including much stronger planning guidance on design; design reflecting local build culture; enhancement of the role of the Access Officer in planning matters; involvement of people with a historical knowledge of Suffolk in design of larger developments; consideration of alternative means of dealing with surface water run-off; emergency planning for severe weather conditions; strengthening of policy on renewable energy sources including wind farms; balancing lower energy consumption with the use of traditional materials; a policy for Waveney's coastline which includes a set of scenarios rather than one fixed plan; and encouraging MAFF to evaluate the true value of the leisure industry when giving consideration to grants for coastal protection works.
RESOLVED
That the key issues identified in the report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment), together with the comments of the Panel on the Waveney Local Plan Environment Topic Paper, be endorsed as the basis for public consultation.
