V28-536 : HACKNEY CARRIAGES, TABLE OF FARES

The report of the Chief Executive set out the proposed Hackney Carriage Fares for the District as advertised in the local press on 27 October 2000 and alternative responses from the trade.

Paragraph 1.2 of the report detailed the tariff proposed at the last meeting, whilst paragraph 1.3 was an alternative put forward by a member of the trade, which effectively gave a 10% increase across the board.

Members were divided in their opinions between the options of 1.2 and 1.3, and after deliberation decided that a revised paragraph 1.3, with the deletion of a suggested increase of Tariff 2 to reflect a `time and a half' scale, be proposed.

RESOLVED

That the Chief Executive advertise the tariff change as detailed at paragraph 1.3 of the report as the final adoption of the charges, subject to the amendment of Tariff 2 to begin at £2.60 and £0.20 for each subsequent 153 yards (139.9 metres) or 41 seconds or a combination of parts of such distance and time.
