V28-535 : HACKNEY CARRIAGE AND PRIVATE HIRE LICENSING FEES
The report of the Chief Executive detailed a proposal to recover, as far as possible, the direct costs of the Taxi Licensing Scheme operating in the Chief Executive's Department. The present Taxi Licensing budget provision estimated an income of £55k against an expenditure of £70k.
The report set out the present fees and estimated business for each licence and the appendices illustrated return on 3%, 5%, 10% and 20% increases for 2001/2002. The Chief Executive outlined that an increase in fees of approximately 10% would best attempt to recover the deficit between income and expenditure.
Similarly to the main Licensing Fees item above, members were divided in their views between an inflation based and 10% increase.
RESOLVED
1. That the proposed 10% increase in Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing fees, as detailed at Appendix C to the report of the Chief Executive, be approved. 2. That the Chief Executive be authorised to advertise the new fees accordingly, and subject to no objections being received to approve their adoption as from April 2001.
