V28-507 : W3458/3 - NO. 7 AND LAND REAR OF NO. 3 BRIDGE STREET, HALESWORTH

Application for creation of two additional flats, conversion of outbuildings to form three dwellings and construction of seven houses with associated storage and car parking.

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) reminded members that the above application had been deferred at the last meeting of the Panel pending receipt of the views of the Highways Agency, Environment Agency and Town Council. The Director advised that the application had since been reduced to provide one dwelling from conversion of outbuildings and the construction of five houses.

The key objection, from the Environment Agency, had been withdrawn, and whilst the Highways Agency was still unlikely to be happy with the scheme, the amended plan would reduce traffic generation. The footway would also be extended out into the road to bring cars clear of the blind corners and to centralise vehicles coming out of the site. The Highways Agency would be likely to request a Safety Audit to ensure the access was as safe as possible.

The Town Council recommended approval, and the Director also recommended approval of the revised plans

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W3458/3.
