V28-490 : W5776/12 - SOUTHWOLD WATER TOWER, YORK ROAD, SOUTHWOLD
Application for installation of four 0.6 metre diameter dishes, three 1.9 metre high cross polar antennae at roof/parapet level, and one equipment cabin at ground level. The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) advised that three objections had been received to the above application concerned with impact on a listed building and its setting, benefit to the town, radiation emissions, visual impact, saturation level and adverse impact on amenity value. The Town Council recommended approval subject to colour coding to match the water tower.
The Director felt the development would not detrimentally affect the visual amenities of the area, and the proposal accorded with guidance for the telecommunications industry in that it utilised an existing structure and involved sharing of facilities. Subject to colour coding and an annual audit on radio emissions, the Director recommended approval. RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W5776/12, subject to colour coding to match as closely as possible the water tower itself, and an annual audit on radio emissions.
