Application for single storey side extension.

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) concerned an application for a conservatory extension set to the side of a semi-detached bungalow and fronting onto an unadopted road. The bungalow had already been substantially extended with flat roof additions to the rear. The proposed extension would also have a flat roof, but because of its location on the side of the property would be visually intrusive and represent an over-development of what was a modestly sized bungalow.

By adding yet more extensions to the property the footprint of the dwelling would be almost doubled from its original size, with the original character somewhat eroded. It was possible that the extension could be partially screened with a boundary wall and/or other landscaping, but in its present form the Director recommended refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W17390/1.
