Application for single storey rear and side garage extensions.
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) set out a proposal for a sizeable rear extension to a detached bungalow set within a generously sized plot. The extension consisted of a living room and kitchen, and although measuring some 7.38 by 9.58 metres in floor area the principle was acceptable because of the large garden area. The original scheme sited the extension no more than five metres from the neighbour's boundary to the north, which would result in loss of direct sunlight to the neighbour. Negotiations had taken place to attempt to move the extension a further 1.5 metres from the neighbouring boundary, which would overcome officers' initial objection, but the applicant would not accept this. The extension would therefore have an unacceptable impact on the neighbour, and the Director recommended refusal. Members, however, wished to view the site before making a decision.
RESOLVED
That a site visit be held at the location of application W17685.
