V28-439 : LOCAL AUTHORITY STANDING COMMITTEE ON OIL FABRICATION

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) informed members of developments that had occurred as a result of meetings with the Local Authority Standing Committee on Oil Fabrication (LASCOF), the Minister of State for Energy and senior Civil Servants over the state of the Fabrication Industry.

As a consequence of these discussions LASCOF were recommending production of a major national study on the health of the sector and its impact on Local Communities.

RESOLVED

1. That a grant of £1,000 be made towards the Local Authority Standing Committee on Oil Fabrication's activity during 2000/2001, to be met from the Economic Development Initiatives and Promotion budget.

2. That the Council assembles information on the impact of the state of the Fabrication Industry as part of a national study being commissioned by the Local Authority Standing Committee on Oil Fabrication.
