V28-438 : PRINCIPAL QUANTITY SURVEYOR - PANEL OF ARBITRATORS AND MEDIATORS

The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) dealt with a request from the holder of Post CC301, Principal Quantity Surveyor, to accept an invitation from the Chartered Institute of Building to have his name added to the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators used by The Legal Practice Manager of the Institute's Dispute Resolution Service.

Since November 1990 the postholder had the Council's permission to act and speak as an Expert in connection with construction matters at the Institute's request. The postholder could accept or decline each and any referral offered to him where acceptance would interfere with his employment at the Council or be the subject of a conflict of interest.

RESOLVED

That the holder of Post CC301, Principal Quantity Surveyor, be permitted to accept the invitation from the Chartered Institute of Building to join the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators, and that the situation be reviewed after six months by the appropriate Corporate Director, and subject to no difficulties, the postholder be allowed to continue, with annual reviews.
