V28-434 : LOWESTOFT TOWN CENTRE ENHANCEMENT

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) outlined the result of a recent Town Centre Access Study and examined the opportunity to develop an Objective 2 bid for Lowestoft Town Centre for supporting enhancement works. It was confirmed at the meeting that the County Council would contribute £15,000 towards the costs of appointing a streetscape design consultant.

Members welcomed and supported the proposal but wished to see the project designated the `North Lowestoft Town Centre Enhancement'.

RESOLVED

1. That the principle and scope of an Objective 2 bid for a North Lowestoft Town Centre Enhancement project be supported.

2. That a North Lowestoft Town Centre Steering Group be established and that the Corporate Director (Environment & Regeneration) be appointed to lead the Group.

3. That Councillor Holzer and the Harbour Ward members be appointed to serve on the Steering Group.

4. That the Council makes a contribution of up to £5,000 towards the costs of appointing an external design consultant to develop a streetscape concept as part of the North Lowestoft Town Centre Enhancement project.
