V28-413 : REVENUE COLLECTION - PROGRESS REPORT

The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) dealt with progress with collecting the Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates in 1999/2000, and also showed the arrears figures at 31 March 2000 and current year figures to 30 June 2000 for those local taxes and for Community Charge.

The collection rate for Non-Domestic Rates showed continuing improvement, but for Council Tax the position was below target as a result of housing benefit problems. It was hoped that this would be corrected in the current year.

RESOLVED

1. That the report on collection rates and arrears for Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates for 1999/2000 be received.

2. That the position with regard to Local Taxation be kept under review with the submission of future progress reports on a quarterly basis.
