V28-401 : HALESWORTH TOWN TRAIL - EXTENSIONS AND DEVELOPMENT

The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) detailed a proposed bid to extend the scope and duration of the Halesworth Town Trail project using Transitional Objective 5b and other funding.

Outstanding issues under the current Town Trail scheme regarding landscaping at Quay Street and repairs at the former Flax Workshops to the rear of Market Place, Halesworth were also detailed.

RESOLVED

1. That a Highway Licence under the Highways Act 1980 be applied for from Suffolk County Council for the Quay Street planting scheme (details attached).

2. That authority be given for the service of a repairs notice under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1993 on the Old Flax Works buildings, rear of Market Place, Halesworth to secure their repair.

3. That the Halesworth Town Trail bid be developed as described in the report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment), and a detailed report including project appraisal and financial implications, the implications of relocation the Tourist Information Centre and the future role of Local Offices be presented to the next meeting of The Executive.

4. That a detailed presentation on the proposals be made to the Regeneration and Environment Policy Panel on 5 September 2000.

5. That the Halesworth Town Trail Project (Events) Officers post be extended by five hours per week to develop the Arts Commission elements of the project over the next four months at a cost of £1,000, including on-costs.
