V28-389 : EAST OF ENGLAND REGIONAL ASSEMBLY
MEETING ON FRIDAY 21 JULY 2000
The report of the Chief Executive was considered as a matter of urgency, under the statutory provision accorded to the Chairman, as the Council needed to consider its view on the specific issues discussed at the meeting of the above Assembly on 21 July 2000. The report reminded members about the objectives of the East of England Regional Assembly and the areas which it represented. At the recent meeting items discussed included amendments to the Constitution, the appointment of the Chair and Deputy Chairs and consideration of the Annual Report.
The Assembly also considered issue papers on "Towards an Integrated Regional Strategy", "Declaration on the Principles of Good Practice for the Dispersal of Asylum Seekers" and a future work programme. An all party agreement was given to supporting Asylum Seekers. Members felt that this was a matter of some significance and that this report should be referred to Council for consideration.
RESOLVED
That the report of the Chief Executive on the East of England Regional Assembly be referred to Council.
