V28-38 : PERIODIC ELECTORAL REVIEW OF WAVENEY DISTRICT COUNCIL
The report of the Chief Executive concerned the Local Government Commission for England's forthcoming electoral review of Suffolk Districts, which would have a substantial impact on ward boundaries in Waveney. The Council's own proposals for electoral change in Waveney needed to be with the Commission by 3 October 2000, and there needed to be public consultation on these before submission. The Commission would brief all Councillors on the process at a special meeting in the Council Chamber on 29 June 2000. For the Council's submission to reach the Commission by 3 October 2000, the final version would have to be approved by the Panel at its 12 September 2000 meeting and The Executive on 21 September 2000. For public consultation to take place in the first two weeks of August, this Panel needed to approve submission options at the end of July. It was therefore suggested that the Panel have a special meeting on 25 July 2000. RECOMMENDED
1. That a special meeting to consider submission options for electoral review of the District be held on Tuesday, 25 July 2000.
2. That public consultation on the submissions take place in the first two weeks in August 2000 using an insert in local papers, public deposit at offices and an exhibition(s).
