V28-377 : WAVENEY SPORTS AND LEISURE CENTRE MARKETING OF WINNERS FITNESS SUITE

The report of the Director of Waveney Contract Services gave an update on the marketing campaign for the Winners Fitness Suite which was being undertaken by a firm of marketing specialists. The proposal was to sell two year memberships and the proceeds were to be split 60:40 in favour of the Council.

The proposal set a target of 50 new members per week over a 12 week period. The marketing campaign started on 27 June 2000 and in the period up to 8 July 2000 175 memberships were sold. Members had recognised the need to extend the fitness suite facilities if the early indications were that the campaign was successful, and in view of these figures work was due to commence on the alterations on 24 July 2000.

RESOLVED

That the early success of the marketing campaign for the Winners Fitness Suite, and the subsequent need to extend the Fitness Suite facilities, be noted.
