V28-373 : RAMPED PEDESTRIAN ACCESS FROM KIRKLEY CLIFF TO ESPLANADE, LOWESTOFT
The report of the Director of Community Services sought confirmation of his action to take remedial action in respect of the ramped pedestrian access from Kirkley Cliff to The Esplanade which had been closed to public use due to damage caused by a localised cliff collapse. The likely cost of the works was not expected to exceed £12,000 and funding could be found within the existing resources of the Other Services Capital Programme 2000/01
It was anticipated that the ramp would be re-opened for the Lowestoft Air Festival and the rest of the summer season, but unfortunately this was not now achievable. However, full ramped access, as opposed to ramped stepped access, would be available for the Air Festival.
RESOLVED
That the action of the Director of Community Services, in consultation with the Chairman, in approving the execution of appropriate remedial works to part of the cliff to enable the ramped access from Kirkley Cliff to the Esplanade to be repaired and re- opened within a budget of £12,000, to be met from within the current Capital Programme, be confirmed.
