V28-360 : RESPONSIVE REPAIRS REVIEW
The report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) reviewed the existing policy of responsive repairs undertaken by the Council. The Director circulated a revised report at the meeting, and advised members that paragraph 2.2.13 should be headed Outside Toilets, not Outside Walls.
Members were divided in their views on gates, outside toilets and broken windows. The Director confirmed that the Tenants' Panel had given their approval of the review, and he felt that it addressed many `grey areas' of responsibility. In addition, there would always be discretion exercised in needy cases. Members felt the forthcoming introduction of the Estate Caretakers would also address many situations.
RECOMMENDED
That the revised policy on responsive repairs as detailed at paragraphs 2.2.1 to 2.2.27 in the report of the Corporate Director (Community Services) be approved. (Referred to Council)
