V28-355 : CCTV ANNUAL REPORT 1999/2000

The report of the Corporate Director (Corporate Resources and Policy) provided an annual report on the effectiveness of the District's CCTV monitoring system, as required by the Best Practice procedures of the Home Office.

The report showed that progress had been generally excellent, with good results in reducing criminal and anti-social behaviour. Various surveys carried out also indicated general levels of satisfaction with the system.

Members were happy to receive the report, but requested that the possibility of having a mobile camera be researched, that the Police be contacted with regard to comments made to Councillors by constituents and that consideration be given to taking matters concerning CCTV to the Community Safety Forum for further discussion.

RESOLVED

That the contents of the CCTV Annual Report 1999/2000 be noted, and officers and monitoring staff be congratulated on the successes achieved to date.
