V28-350 : WAVENEY LOCAL PLAN - TRANSPORT TOPIC PAPER
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) presented the Waveney Local Plan's Transport Topic paper for discussion. Feedback from members would identify key issues to be carried forward to the Issues Report for public consultation. Members requested that several matters be given consideration when formulating these policies, including the ageing nature of the population, the possibility of a District-wide parking policy, improvement of existing development with regard to sustainable transport, park and ride facilities, an integrated bus and rail terminal within walking distance of shops, water transport, use of community buses for taking people to work, re-thinking the concept of "key villages", integrating South Lowestoft into the "Town Centre", four lanes on the bascule bridge with a separate cyclist/pedestrian bridge and removing parking from roads where this impedes the free flow of traffic.
RESOLVED
That the comments of the Panel on the Waveney Local Plan Transport Paper be taken into account when formulating strategies and policies, and that members establish a set of priorities for these policies at a future meeting.
