V28-341 : ASSESSMENT OF SPEEDING/TRAFFIC DIVERSION PROBLEMS IN LOWESTOFT
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) advised that complaints were increasingly being received regarding the speed and amount of traffic using roads in the District. In many cases there were legitimate concerns and budgets were available to take action, although the representations made outweighed the budgets available.
A policy framework was therefore needed for prioritising action, and in order to be able to compare the various sites it was intended that a coarse assessment be carried out to quantify the severity of problems in a relatively simple and objective manner. Two or three sites with the highest scores would then be investigated in more detail regarding possible mitigation measures.
RESOLVED
That the coarse assessment method outlined in Appendix 1 of the report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) be adopted as the policy framework for assessment of speeding/traffic diversion problems in Lowestoft. (Referred to Council)
