V28-336 : WAVENEY LOCAL PLAN REVIEW, OPEN SPACE TOPIC PAPER
The report of the Head of Planning presented the Waveney Local Plan's Open Space Topic paper for discussion. Coupling the issue with the previous item, the Head of Planning felt there may again be an opportunity for a link with planning gain.
Another item for address was that presently there was no coherent corporate approach to Open Space. The Chairman felt there were three cross-cutting issues arising: looking after open space in regard to the litter aspect; dual use of open space, such as sports facilities in parks; and acquiring further open space.
Councillors considered that a policy was needed to deal with ancillary development such as changing rooms, floodlighting, etc on open space sites. It was also felt that open space policies ought to cover recreational and amenity open space. The Head of Planning reminded the Panel that the item would return to a future meeting in the Issues Report, where Councillors' agreement on a stand alone policy for open spaces could be confirmed. RESOLVED
That the comments of the Panel on the Waveney Local Plan Open Space Topics paper be noted, and officers continue to formulate strategies and policies on the issues, for presentation at a future meeting.
The meeting was concluded at 9.30 pm.
