V28-334 : NORTH LOWESTOFT HERITAGE AND ECONOMIC REGENERATION SCHEME

OBJECTIVE 2 BID

The report of the Head of Planning outlined the process of a bid to Go East for Objective 2 funding of a North Lowestoft Heritage and Economic Regeneration (HERs) scheme. A report seeking approval to submit the bid would be considered by The Executive on 27 July 2000, but officers felt that the Panel should have knowledge of what the bid process involved.

Members suggested that an enlarged version of the former High Street Working Party, to include Gunton ward Councillors as the bid area did, may need to be re-constituted to deal with any public consultation. One issue could be the re-positioning of the WCs. Members also asked if officers could ascertain whether the Government Matching Fund Initiative, applicable to Objective 1 areas, was to be extended to Objective 2, as Bob Blizzard MP had been advocating.

That the report on the bid for a North Lowestoft Heritage and Economic Regeneration Scheme be received.
