V28-332 : APPLICATIONS TO DISPOSE OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE
FROM MAGNOX POWER STATIONS
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services set out the Environment Agency's role in regulating the disposal of all radioactive substances, and the nature of the waste at the Sizewell site and the disposal arrangements.
The report concluded that the Council's response be that the Environment Agency continue to carry out periodic reviews, within a strategy for overall reductions in discharges, and review again, within such strategy, if and when Sizewell A station was decommissioned. RECOMMENDED
1. That the response to public consultation on the disposal of radioactive waste from Sizewell A, as outlined in the report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services, be forwarded to the Environment Agency.
2. That a copy of the Agency's Decision Document on British Nuclear Fuel Plc's applications for the Magnox power stations be requested when available. The meeting was concluded at 8.20 pm.
