Application for first floor rear extension.
The report of the Corporate Director (Regeneration and Environment) set out a proposal to erect a first floor extension to provide a function room at the above. This would involve increasing the length of the ground floor extension by three metres and the erection of a flat roof first floor extension. The extension would be within one and two metres of the boundary of the adjacent terraced properties, both of which were in office use and had objected.
It was considered that an extension of this size at first floor level would result in an unacceptable impact by reason of loss of light and outlook to the adjacent properties. The bulk and design of the extension would also be clearly visible from Alexandra Road and result in an extension out of character and visually over-dominant in the street scene. The Director recommended refusal.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be refused to application W8277/4.
