V28-255 : CLAREMONT PIER, LOWESTOFT
UNAUTHORISED USE FOR WHOLESALE RETAIL OF BEVERAGES
The report of the Head of Planning advised that it had been reported to the Council that the owners of the Claremont Pier had established a wholesale retail business selling beverages direct from the Pier. Any increase in vehicular traffic at this location was not desirable, and if the business became successful all manner of traffic would potentially visit the premises to collect goods.
The Esplanade was primarily for the enjoyment of pedestrians walking along the sea front, and as such any increase in vehicular traffic movements in this location should be avoided. The Head of Planning therefore recommended enforcement action to stop this use. RESOLVED
That the Chief Executive be authorised to issue an Enforcement Notice and to take all pursuant action to ensure the cessation of the unauthorised use of wholesale retail of beverages and associated storage at the Claremont Pier, The Esplanade, Lowestoft.
