V28-240 : W586/23 - LAND ADJACENT (SOUTH SIDE OF) WAVENEY DRIVE, LOWESTOFT
Application for the construction of an office building with access road and car parking. The report of the Head of Planning outlined the above proposal for a two storey office building similar to a scheme approved on a site to the north east in 1998. The applicant's present offices were small and poorly located, and the 1998 proposal could not proceed because they had been unable to buy the land. This alternative land was partly in the applicant's ownership and partly on Suffolk County Council land.
The two storey building would sit at the northern end of the site, just to the south of the proposed roundabout at which the new section of the South Lowestoft Relief Road would join Waveney Drive. The existing access road off Horn Hill was capable of serving the new offices until proper permanent access off the relief road was put in place. Most of the remainder of the site would be car parking, with a landscaped outer edge. Suffolk County Council would be asked to ensure that interim landscaping outside the application site boundaries were satisfactory.
This was a worthy scheme which promised to boost jobs, and the Head of Planning recommended approval when the Director of Community Services was satisfied with access arrangements prior to or in the absence of the South Lowestoft Relief Road, and subject to landscaping details.
RESOLVED
That the Head of Planning be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W586/23 when the Director of Community Services is satisfied with access arrangements prior to or in the absence of the South Lowestoft Relief Road, and subject to landscaping details.
