V28-232 : W11124/12 - BARN OWL LODGE, OFF A12, CORTON
Application for replacement building to provide five additional bed and breakfast rooms. The report of the Head of Planning reminded members that permission for a similar application at the above site had been refused in October 1999 as directed by the Highway Authority. The application was to re-build the remaining L-shaped farm building to provide five additional en-suite bedroom annexes, to be used in association with the existing bed and breakfast use.
Since the previous refusal the A12 had been improved, with Rackhams Corner now being served with a roundabout. This would now mean that southbound traffic past the site had only just left the roundabout and had not reached full speed. The Highway Authority no longer had any objection.
The Head of Planning recommended approval subject to use of traditional, preferably reclaimed, materials, closure of the gap in the central reservation and control of signage. In accordance with Standing Order 45(3) a non-member of the Panel, Councillor Thomson, addressed the Panel in favour of the application.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W11124/12, subject to the use of traditional, preferably reclaimed, materials, closure of the gap in the central reservation and control of signage.
