V28-207 : W13014/9 - BARSHAM HOUSE, BARSHAM
Application for extension to stable building to form personal office.
The report of the Head of Planning set out the planning history of the above site, and the current application was a resubmission of proposals which were refused consent at the February meeting of the Development Control Committee. The applicant argued that the proposed extension of the existing stable block to provide an office was extremely modest and would have negligible effects in terms of visual impact or damage to the character of the site.
The use would not be contrary to Local Plan Policy V8 which sought to restrict non- agricultural development in the open countryside. Approval would also reduce traffic movements by allowing the business to be run on-site. Given that the applicant had continued to run the business from the house without obvious adverse impact, the Head of Planning recommended approval, personal to the applicants, with no external storage of materials or equipment.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W13014/9, for personal use by the applicants in connection with their current decorating business only, subject to no external storage of materials or equipment.
