V28-205 : W584/2 - 39A HIGH STREET, LOWESTOFT
Application for conversion of former Boys Club to provide one dwelling and construction of double garage and associated level changes.
The report of the Head of Planning set out objections to the above application concerned with accuracy of plans and loss of car parking spaces. The application site was situated towards the rear of the High Street adjacent to Mariners Score and was situated within the Conservation area. At present there was only pedestrian access to the property. It was proposed to convert the property to provide one residential dwelling. This would involve reinstatement of some windows, provision of light wells on the front and the erection of a balcony on the rear. A parking proposal at the front would involve gaining access from the adjacent land owner and the relocation of the existing car parking spaces used by the flats on the High Street to create a driveway down to the front, and erecting a double flat roof garage. The lost spaces would be moved, and the garage roof used for parking. This would provide four car parking spaces, one more than at present, and the principle was acceptable although further details would be required.
The use of the building as one unit was acceptable, although further information on the precise nature of the external alterations was still needed. The Head of Planning recommended that he be given authority to grant approval subject to achieving acceptable parking layout without loss to the existing residents and details of external alterations. RESOLVED
That the Head of Planning be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W584/2, subject to achieving an acceptable parking layout without loss to the existing residents, and details of external alterations.
