V28-176 : W14061 - RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT AT PRIORY LANE, BUNGAY

The report of the Head of Planning advised that the above development was nearing completion, and that landscaping proposals indicated a 1.8 metre high fence to be built along the western boundary of the site, adjacent to the public footpath to Quaves Lane. The original approval was for 1.2 metre fencing only along this boundary.

The Housing Association developers argued that the extra height of fence would give additional privacy for the disabled tenant of plot 3, that views through the site to Castle Hills would not be impeded, and that the extra fencing would prevent rubbish from being thrown over. However, it was felt these arguments did not outweigh the increased visual impact of a high fence, which would change the character of this attractive footpath.

RESOLVED

That the proposal to erect a 1.8 metre high fence along the western boundary of the residential development at Priory Lane, Bungay, be refused.
