Application for new windows, front door and render and conservation area consent for partial demolition of front bay.

The report of the Head of Planning concerned an application for internal and external alterations to the above building including removal of tile cladding and replacement with render, the provision of an oriel window for both floors, and new windows and doors. The building had been subject to a number of alterations in the past, and the present tile hanging formed part of an inappropriate front projection.

The proposed works would go some way to readdressing the balance in the appearance, but could go further by taking the oriel window on the southern elevation to the ground floor, which would be more in keeping with the bay on the adjoining part of the windows. It would also be appropriate for the windows to have larger panes to harmonise more with the building and address the concerns of the Town Council. The Head of Planning recommended approval subject to these design amendments to the eastern elevation.

RESOLVED

That planning permission and conservation area consent be granted to applications W16750/3 and W16750/4 respectively, subject to design amendments to the eastern elevation.
