Application for reinstatement to two dwellings, internal alterations and conversion of outbuildings to summerhouse, and listed building consent for reinstatement to two dwellings, internal alterations and conversion of outbuildings to summerhouse.

The report of the Head of Planning outlined a proposal to sub-divide the above Grade II Listed Building to two dwellings, aided by a curved staircase extension.

The building appeared quite substantial when viewed from the front, but this was deceptive and the proposed accommodation would be small. Though workable, this could set a precedent for future similar sub-divisions which would be harmful to the buildings and to the area as a whole. The proposed staircase extension was out of keeping with the Listed Building, and the Head of Planning recommended refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission and listed building consent be refused to applications W15348/1 and W15348/2 respectively.
