V28-151 : W9435/8 AND /9 - VACANT SITE AT COMMERCIAL ROAD, LOWESTOFT

Application for construction of retail foodstore with associated car parking and service area (two identical applications).
The report of the Head of Planning outlined the above proposal for a 1,160 square metre discount foodstore immediately behind the short line of shops, takeaway and amusements on the west side of Station Square, fronting and taking access from Commercial Road. There would be an 87 space customer car park and a single vehicular access in the centre of the frontage.

The Head of Planning recommended that, as this was a potentially controversial application regarding the issues of retail impact on the Town Centre, the development site being allocated for employment uses and road and traffic implications, members should attend a site visit before receiving a full report on the application.

RESOLVED

That a site visit be held at the location of applications W9435/8 and W9435/9.
