V28-130 : NOTICES OF MOTION

(a) Bylaw Prohibiting the Drinking of Alcohol in Public

Councillor Shepherd submitted and proposed the following Notice of Motion in accordance with Standing Order 5(1):

"The Waveney District Council do introduce a bylaw prohibiting the drinking of alcohol in the following public streets:

(a) London Road South, from Carlton Road to Pier Terrace
(b) Pier Terrace
(c) London Road North, from the bridge to High Street
(d) High Street, from London Road North to Arnolds Walk
(e) Marine Parade, Victoria Terrace, Wellington Esplanade"

The Motion was duly seconded by Councillor Young.

As the subject of the Motion came within the province of the Corporate Resources Policy Panel the matter stood deferred to the next meeting of that Panel.

RESOLVED

1. That the Notice of Motion submitted by Councillor Shepherd in relation to a bylaw prohibiting the drinking of alcohol in public be deferred to the next meeting of the Corporate Resources Policy Panel for consideration.

(b) Illegal Encampment of Travellers

Councillor Bee submitted and proposed the following Notice of Motion in accordance with Standing Order 5(1):

"That the Executive of Waveney District Council be called upon to report to a future meeting of the Full Council, its policy for dealing with the illegal encampment of travellers within Waveney District Council."

The Motion was duly seconded by Councillor Aldous.

As the subject of the Motion came within the province of the Regeneration and Environment Policy Panel the matter stood deferred to the next meeting of that Panel. However, Councillor Bee had asked for the Motion to be referred to The Executive, and members supported this.

RESOLVED

That the Notice of Motion submitted by Councillor Bee in relation to the illegal encampment of travellers be deferred to the next meeting of The Executive.
