V28-101 : EXTERNAL AUDITORS' STATUTORY REPORT ON BEST VALUE 1999/2000

The report of the Chief Executive considered the formal report from District Audit on the Council's Best Value work for 1999/2000, which was presented to members by Chris Bally and Steven Brown, and there followed a short question and answer session. An Action Plan of recommendations was provided, to which the Council was required to respond within 30 days, and a draft response had been prepared for members' consideration.

Members were happy to adopt the draft responses, and as this had to be submitted within 30 days, to authorise the Chief Executive to make any changes which she felt appropriate in the light of any further discussions with District Audit. The final document would be circulated to the Panel for information.

RECOMMENDED

1. That the report of District Audit on the Council's Best Value work for 1999/2000 be received.

2. That the Chief Executive be authorised to make any changes to the draft response to District Audit, as set out in the report of the Chief Executive, which she felt appropriate in the light of any further discussions with District Audit.
