V27-997 : METTINGHAM VILLAGE HALL ASSOCIATION - MINOR PROJECT CAPITAL GRANT

The report of the Director of Community Services outlined a request from the Mettingham Village Hall Association for a capital grant towards the refurbishment of their village hall. A previous application by the Association was approved in January 1997, but this award of £3,000 was not taken up and the work did not proceed.

The applicants had now costed a scheme for complete refurbishment of the facility at £54,000. The first phase of work was underway and was costed at £6,033. It was recommended that a grant of £1,500 be offered towards the first phase of the work, representing 25% of the cost. This offer would not preclude the applicant from seeking funding towards later phases of the scheme.

RESOLVED

That a Minor Project Capital Grant of £1,500 be offered to Mettingham Village Hall Committee towards the first phase of their refurbishment project.
